Excellent WWI and WWII issued Mauser Karabiner 98 rifle , know as Kar98 – a true US GI WWII bring back war trophy.This particular example was manufactured by ERFURT arsenal in late 1916 – caliber 8mm Mauser …………………… …………. That surviving example has all matching numbers 8462 “ee” ……………… Those short WWI made rifles are super hard to come by in all original and untouched condition – especially still with matching Bolt…………. Majority of WWI rifles production were Gewehrs 98’s – Long rifles , Erfurt made shorter version - more cavalry friendly – Kar 98 is ancestor of later classic K98 that was main firearm of Wehrmacht during WWII ………. ……………..Most of WWI made rifles got lost, demolished or modified before and during WWII ……………… This piece still has its all original finish and parts down to screws, with only WWI Erfurt Arsenal Imperial proofs – no post WWI alterations !…………………………… What makes this piece even more desirable is fact, that this piece was actually captured by US GI during WWII – indication of that is Authentic GI made stock duffle bag cut under rear band !
